Trips and recording
Battery, distance filter and office hours
A few settings decide how MoveJack records: the distance filter, Automatic tracking and whether the app starts trips by itself outside your office hours.
Distance filter
Under Settings you choose the distance filter: 10, 25 or 50 meters, 10 by default. It sets how far you have to move before the app records a new GPS point. The app adds: lower means a more accurate track and more battery use.
Automatic tracking
With the Automatic tracking switch on the home screen you turn automatic recording on or off. It is on by default. If it is off, you can still start a trip yourself.
The app off outside your office hours
Under Settings › Trips & office hours you turn on App is off outside these times. The location engine then starts and stops according to your office hours, and no automatic trip begins outside those hours. This is off by default. You can still start a trip yourself.
What happens to a trip that runs past the end time is up to the location engine; we have not established that. A window across midnight is not possible.
This is different from setting the category based on office hours: see business, private and commute.
