Notifications, lock screen and Dynamic Island

Which notifications do you get?

• Trip started: as soon as a trip reaches 20 km/h.
• Trip added: from where to where, the distance and the category, with the Change to private button, or Change to business for a private trip. That button changes the trip without you opening the app.
• Trip stopped after a car trip, with the place where you stopped: always on Android, on iPhone only if there was no trip on the lock screen.
• The monthly export reminder on the 1st of the month at 9:00 a.m. See exporting and sharing.
• A notification from the private kilometer counter at 80 and 100 percent of the threshold you set, if you use that counter. See MoveJack and the IRS.

Trips the app builds afterwards from stored points do not get a Trip added notification.

On your iPhone’s lock screen

On an iPhone with iOS 16.2 or later, a trip runs along on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island: license plate, driving time, distance and where you set off. After a car trip it turns into a parking card with a button to navigate. You can turn this off for the app in your iPhone’s settings.

The app can only start such a card while it is in the foreground. If a trip begins while the app is in the background, the card only appears when you open the app, unless the parking card from your previous car trip was still there: it then switches back to the trip. After a trip without a car, the card disappears.

On Android

On Android, a persistent notification shows while the app is recording: “Ritregistratie actief” (Dutch for trip recording active; in version 2.0.48 the app shows this notification in Dutch, whatever language you use it in). A trip that runs along on the lock screen, as on iPhone, does not exist there.

Turning notifications off

Under Settings, the Notifications switch turns all of the app’s notifications off; recording simply continues. Turning notifications off only outside your office hours is not possible. Your phone must also allow notifications for MoveJack.
