Notifications, lock screen and Dynamic Island
MoveJack notifies you when a journey starts and when a journey has been added, with a button to change the category straight away. On iPhone, the journey runs along on your lock screen.
Which notifications do you get?
- Trip started: as soon as a journey reaches 20 km/h.
- Trip added: from where to where, the distance and the category, with the Change to private button, or Change to business for a private journey. That button changes the journey without you opening the app.
- Trip stopped after a car journey, with the place where you stopped: always on Android, on iPhone only if there was no journey on the lock screen.
- The monthly export reminder on the 1st of the month at 09:00. See exporting and sharing.
- A notification about your private kilometres at 80 and 100 per cent of your limit, if you use that counter. See MoveJack and HMRC.
Journeys the app builds afterwards from stored points do not get a Trip added notification.
On your iPhone’s lock screen
On an iPhone with iOS 16.2 or later, a journey runs along on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island: number plate, driving time, distance and where you set off. After a car journey it turns into a parking card with a button to navigate. You can turn this off for the app in your iPhone’s settings.
The app can only start such a card while it is in the foreground. If a journey begins while the app is in the background, the card only appears when you open the app, unless the parking card from your previous car journey was still there: it then switches back to the journey. After a journey without a car, the card disappears.
On Android
On Android, a persistent notification shows while the app is recording: “Ritregistratie actief” (Dutch for journey recording active; in version 2.0.48 the app shows this notification in Dutch, whatever language you use it in). A journey that runs along on the lock screen, as on iPhone, does not exist there.
Turning notifications off
Under Settings, the Notifications switch turns all of the app’s notifications off; recording simply carries on. Turning notifications off only outside your office hours is not possible. Your phone must also allow notifications for MoveJack.
