Reports and records
Exporting, sharing and the monthly reminder
A report is made on your phone and saved as a file. You send it through your phone’s share sheet: you choose the app and the recipient.
What happens when you export?
The app first saves the report as a file on your phone. Then it opens your phone’s share sheet, or you download the file. No MoveJack server is involved.
The app does pass on the email address from your profile, but the share sheet does not use it: you choose the app and the recipient yourself.
Your journey history only leaves your phone when you choose that yourself, for example with such an export.
You can export as long as your subscription or free trial is running. Without one, the app shows a subscription screen instead of the export screen; your journeys do stay on your phone. See subscription.
My reports
Every report you create stays on your phone as a file under My reports, until you delete it there. Tap it to open it.
The monthly reminder
By default, MoveJack reminds you on the 1st of every month at 09:00 with a notification to export the previous month. If you tap it, the export screen opens.
You turn the reminder off under Menu › My data › Monthly export reminder. It only works if the app’s notifications are on and your phone allows notifications.
There is also Prepare export automatically, off by default. The app then creates the Excel export of the previous month itself.
Export or backup?
An export is for your records and cannot be put back into the app. You make a spare copy separately with the backup file. See backup and new phone.
Claimed after an export
If you export a selection of journeys from the journey overview, the app marks the business and commute journeys in it as claimed. See claiming.
