Map, route and search

MoveJack shows your journeys on a Mapbox map. You can review a journey and play it back, with your speed at every point.

A journey on the map

In the journey details you see the route on the map, with a start and end point. Below it is a speed graph, with the speed limit as a dotted line. If you drag across the graph, the map jumps to that point, with your speed and the limit there.

With the play button you play the journey back. You can pause and carry on.

A journey you added yourself has no GPS points and so no route on the map.

What goes to Mapbox?

  • Map tiles: every time you open a map, the app fetches the map of the area you are looking at. Mapbox therefore sees which area that is.
  • Searches: the text you type in an address field, from three characters.
  • Usage report: Mapbox’s map software reports that the map was used, with a random ID and without coordinates.

The app does not turn a position into an address via Mapbox but via Nominatim. See addresses.

Where do you see a map?

On the home screen, in the journey details, on the map page, with locations, with Where is your car, with a visit, when editing an address and when splitting a journey.
