Start and end address, saved addresses and clients
After each journey MoveJack looks up the start and end address. You give saved addresses such as home, work and clients a name and a type.
How does a journey get an address?
For the first and the last point of the journey, the app first checks your own addresses: if the point is within the range of a saved address, that is the address. After that the app looks for a previously used address within 40 metres.
If there is no known address, the app sends the start and end point of the journey to Nominatim, OpenStreetMap’s address search service, and turns the answer into a new address. Such an automatic address has the type General and does not appear in your address list.
Without internet the app fills in the addresses later, when you refresh the journey overview.
Saved addresses and clients
An address has one of seven types: Home, Work, Visit address, Business visit, General, Client and Train station. For each address you set a range of 10 to 200 metres, 50 by default.
- The app uses Home and Work to recognise commuting, and Train station for train journeys. See category.
- The app uses Client for your hours claim, the client declaration and the client filter. See working hours and claiming.
You save an automatic address as a saved address by pressing and holding it in the journey list. It then applies to all journeys with that address.
Searching for or choosing an address
When you edit an address, you search by name or street. The text you type goes to Mapbox for suggestions from three characters.
For a journey you add yourself, the address field works the same way, with Mapbox suggestions.
