Trip score and driving behaviour

Each journey can get a score for driving behaviour. That score says how your speed compared with the speed limit on the roads you drove.

How is the score calculated?

The score runs from 1 to 100. The app looks at every point of the journey where you were doing at least 10 km/h and where the limit is known. If you were doing more than 7 km/h over the limit there, that costs points, proportionally. Just before a higher limit, within 25 seconds, exceeding the limit does not count.

If you turn on Driving behavior events, hard acceleration, hard braking and sharp turns together cost at most 15 points. The app derives them from the GPS points. This is off by default.

When is there no score?

When there is too little data: no points where you were driving, fewer than half of those points with a known limit, or fewer than 20 points to assess.

Where do you see the score?

In the journey details and in your statistics, with the lowest, average and highest score. With Show trip score you hide the small score label on a journey; the rating in the journey details stays.

What the score does not say

The score compares your speed with the limits from OpenStreetMap map data. MoveJack makes no statement about safety or driving quality.
