Trips and recording
Editing, splitting and merging trips
You can adjust a recorded trip: category, vehicle and comment. You can split trips, merge them, add them yourself and delete them.
What can you change for each trip?
- The category: private, business or commute. See business, private and commute.
- The vehicle the trip is recorded against.
- A comment, for example the purpose of the trip.
- Claimed, for business and commute trips. See claiming.
You cannot edit a trip’s times, distance, start and end address or odometer reading.
You can, however, give an address a name and a type: press and hold it in the trip list. That changes the address for all trips that refer to it. See addresses.
Splitting a trip
In the trip details, choose Split trip. With a slider you pick the point on the route, and with Split here the app turns it into two trips. This works for trips with at least four GPS points.
The app recalculates the distance of each part, as the sum of the straight lines between the points. Together that can differ slightly from the original distance. A comment and Claimed stay with the first part.
Merging trips
Two trips that directly follow each other and have the same vehicle can be merged with Merge with previous in the trip details, or by selecting exactly two trips in the trip overview. You cannot undo a merge.
The merged trip runs from the start of the first to the end of the second trip. The distances are added up and the comments combined.
The app also merges two automatic trips by itself when they are clearly one trip: a break of less than 15 minutes, faster than 20 km/h on both sides, the same vehicle and the same category, and neither of them claimed or changed by you.
Adding a trip yourself
With the plus button in the trip overview you add a trip: date, start and stop time, start and stop address, the distance, the category and the vehicle. You can do this for a day in the past too. A trip across midnight is not possible.
A trip you added yourself has no GPS points: it has no route on the map and cannot be split. In an Excel report it is highlighted in yellow as added manually.
Deleting a trip
In the trip overview, swipe a trip aside and confirm the deletion. You delete several trips through Select. The app deletes the trip and its GPS points. What else stays is explained in wiping and deleting data.
